For someone unfamiliar with the story, the details of what happened really interested me
Narrative
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports commentary crew is thrown into covering the hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. All the performances are believable, the comedy is in the right places, and the pacing and running time don’t make you look towards the exit before the credits roll.
They did a good job of keeping the story arcs unmarked
Some might find the lack of scene changes tiresome, but I think it worked here. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room is your world and feel like they did on that eventful day.
Thought-provoking without being preachy
They did a nice job of covering the political and emotional elements. The mixing in of footage from the actual event, including the film footage, really draws the viewer into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I’ll be watching again and again, it’s a very well-made film that I’d recommend to friends who enjoy this type of film.
