The Big Kennel, starring Ash Gibson Greig, Andrew Craig. The pink-maned "Freddy" is more like a poodle than a wolf, but he is energetic when it comes to helping his superhero Lupin squad, who are trying to help people in distress! Tired of sitting still, he looks up at the sky and wants.
Next thing, there is the moon spirit «Moopoo»; before him and he is no longer a scoundrel
But his new blue friend needs life energy to survive, so they must find a way to get him back to the Moon with his kin, or disaster will befall us all! There’s only one way to do it – find "Max" – an outcast wolf living deep in the forest who has the magic spell he needs. They go in search, but is the grudge-ridden "Max" even willing to help them, or does she have her own cunning plan to get revenge on those who cast her out?
Forgettable, but animated enough and watchable enough
It’s a pretty fun family adventure, but it struggles to find an audience. Very young people probably won’t appreciate the (teatime) sense of menace, especially towards the end – and a bit older ones will probably be put off by Freddy’s rather childish characterization at first. It’s also probably twenty minutes too long, but as a simple light-hearted drama it does what it says on the tin, touching on the aspirations we all have when we’re young and want to fit in, lead and be appreciated.
