Narrative
Elphaba, a misunderstood young girl because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads. The cast of Wicked reveals what their characters would convey if they lived in our world. The practical sets were built and completed with CGI rather than being filmed on green or blue screens.

Chu] wanted the world of Oz to feel like a real place and not just a computer-generated backdrop. This included planting 9 million tulips to serve as part of the Munchkinland landscape. In the classroom scene where Elphaba makes the flowers rise into the air and the pollen puts the students to sleep, you can clearly see a string suspending one of them between the flowers as they move. It will be interesting if this is fixed for the streaming and DVD release of the film..

I don’t know much about the musical, but I am familiar with Judy Garland’s classic version of The Wizard of Oz. The world-building in this film is the best since Harry Potter, and it delivers everything you could want from a fantasy experience. It looks, sounds, and feels exactly like a fantasy film should. Ariana Grande brings her own unique personality to Glinda, mixing glamour with a playful, modern energy that feels fresh and exciting.
I can’t wait for part two!
Cynthia Erivo gives a powerful and heartfelt performance as Elphaba, imbuing the character with raw emotion and a deep sense of strength. Their on-screen chemistry makes every scene between them unforgettable, adding to the magic and emotional depth of the story.
